Breezy

No comments:
I did this sketch a while ago and wanted to flesh out a background, but always came up with a blank.  I moved it around to several folders trying to reorganize my artwork on my hard drive, and unfortunately it got lost in the shuffle.  But a couple of days ago, i ram across it, decided to do a cop out on the background, and i guess the rest is history.
Maybe i should go on a sketch finishing spree...

Calvin & Hobbes, colored

No comments:
I think out of my recent drawings, I think this might be one of my favorite drawings...probably because Calvin & Hobbes was such a big part of my childhood.  I would love to do my own strip/comic based on it, but copyright stuff pretty much persuades me not to.  Anyways, the final image differs somewhat from the sketch in that I decided to flesh out the background a little bit, which had me delving into some unfamiliar territory with "speed painting".  And I learned that I suck at it, and I'm the slowest speed painter probably ever.  It all came together at the end though, which I guess is the most important part.

Calvin & Hobbes WIP

No comments:

Just a work in progress shot of the Calvin & Hobbes illustration.  The background so far is up in the air, and hopefully it will come together the further along I go with it.  Welp, time to get back at it.

Artistic Nude

No comments:
Finally finished the sketch that I posted on here a couple of days ago.  I should do more of these, especially since I can definitely see some rough spots in this one.  I've been debating on whether to post my artwork with more watermarks over them to deter some art lifting that I've been experiencing as of late.  I don't want to make them overly garish and hideous, just enough to make it more difficult for others to remove my signature and logo (or website URL) from my images so they can use them however they see fit.  I'm still experimenting with that and hopefully I'll find a happy medium.

In the coming days I'll speak more on that, but for now, lets just enjoy the artwork!  Now, onto the Calvin & Hobbes sketch...

Artistic Nude Sketchiness

No comments:
No naked bits shown, so this is probably SFW.

Decided to sketch something up real quick while taking a break from web development and branding and what not.  Its cool that everything is beginning to come together as far as "Illumistrations" goes, but certain things seem to pop up and get in the way.  And as much as I love seeing everything flourish, sometimes I wish that things just went back to me just drawing for fun without thinking of the consequences of everything...ughhh....this post probably isn't the best place to talk about it (maybe in a later post).  But I'm getting sidetracked...

Anyways, just sketched this up...colors coming soon:

Calvin & Hobbes sketch

No comments:
When I was younger, the highlight of my Sunday morning was picking up the newspaper and reading the comics.  That's all I cared about then.  Peanuts, Family Circus, and a little later on, Dilbert.  Those were the days.  But the comic that I loved most was Calvin & Hobbes.  So I thought, hey, why not....let's envision him how I would if I could do it today...and this is what came out.

And as per the course, I'll be updating here as this comes along.

Supergirl

african american black superhero superheroine heroine Supergirl heroes

This one was definitely was a while in the making.  I did the original sketch sometime in like early August of 2012 and pretty much sat on it until now.  I liked it then, but I didn't love it enough to finish it, so it sat in the dusty corner of my hdd until I was going through some random folders and saw it.  And then I thought about how I could improve it...
But instead of erasing parts and pieces, I decided to do a completely new sketch without looking at the last one at all...and I ended up not liking that one either.  I liked parts of it, but not all of it.  Then I looked at them both, and decided to use the best of both and combine them into one...the face of the newer one, and pretty much the foundation of the first...well....pictures speak louder than words.

This happens a lot actually.  I'll sketch something out, and it will just dwell forever in purgatory until I randomly see it again and try to fix it.

And I guess as a bonus, here is a work in progress shot of the final image:

This print, as well as others, are available for purchase here.  Also, feel free to become a fan of my Facebook page!
